Good Points

Okay long as everything works.

Bad Points

Customer service spend minimum 20 min. even to close your account.

Annoying automated messages.



No equipment warranty

"other" installation charges.

Pay-per-view - ordering cost (apart from the cost of the program)

If anything is wrong, bill/reception/bad equipment it becomes the worst. Looks good only on paper.

DVR - Land phone line required.

General Comments

Direct TV Service Review - I got this error message# 771 Searching for satellite signal a few channels. All the rest of the channels are working fine. When I called the technical support, the automated system asked the error number and then I was cut off by the system saying that I need to call back. So I called the Customer service - account management. After 15 minutes, some one answered. I told them what happened and told that I want to close my account. Said she will transfer someone else who will help. After 45 minutes I had to hang up because my ears were painful.

Before, 2 months after installation, my receiver quit. This is from their terms and conditions :DIRECTV PROVIDES YOU THE DIRECTV EQUIPMENT AS IS, AND MAKES NO WARRANTY, Since their warranty covers nothing I had to pay for it.

Installation is free. But careful, the technician who is a franchise will still charge you for anything - in my case, a 2x4 wooden block and a clamp as an additional support for the dish cost $47.

Remember,apart from the cost of the program, phone order cost (yes, ordering cost for a pay-per-view is 3.99, and automated telephone order.

You need a physical land phone line connected always to the DVR. It cannot use the internet connection...
