Bottom ejection: easy access top safety: easily cleaned after each day afield (I've used my oldest [of the 3 I have] that there isn't a speck of bluing left on it); rugged
The magazine ejection control finger springs can sometimes warp and need to be reconfigured. That can be a tricky job requiring a lot of tinkering and study of how those parts function.
I hunt 90% in salt marsh country and love my BPS (had it 20 yrs. and now have 3 in 12G.), I have several doubles but this gun handles more naturally for me . I originally bought it because I liked the heft of it (it's a bit heavier than an 870, which I like as I think it gives a more consistent swing). I've used the first one I got so much that there is no bluing on it (due to using steel wool to get the salt rust off) and the rib is saddle backed in several spots but it's still a killer.Due to the spring problem, as well as annual maintenance (you must do this or it will eventually get gummed up and rust and seize up)) I've learned to disassemble the gun over the years and have enjoyed the process of figuring out how it functions and how to put it back together.
