General Comments

I have been using Le Creuset pans for over 20 years.
I recently had a problem with the non stick flaking off.
I contacted customer services by letter. There response was to telephone me and tell me it was my fault for having the light too high!
It also cost £9.95 to send it too them for them to inspect.
I did eventually get the postage back from them.
In future I will buy from Marks & Spencers, at least you know you have a superb customer service there.

Note from the Manufacturers: We are sorry that you feel this way about Le Creuset Customer Service. To explain further, there is no Lifetime Guarantee on Le Creuset frying pans; the guarantee on frying pans and omelette pans is 10 years, because of the non-stick coating. The 10-year Guarantee covers manufacturer and material fault, not accidental damage or wear and tear.

One of the benefits of using cast iron as a material for cooking is due to the heat retention qualities. It is essential, therefore, to use only low to medium heat at all times, so that the build up in temperature in the pan will not become so great as to be detrimental to the coating.

As the pan heats up and cools down it will expand and contract. The non-stick coating (and indeed the cast iron) is designed to cope with some movement, but if the temperature within the pan has built up in excess of the recommendation, then the non-stick layer will become brittle. The coating may then split and tear and will appear scorched. A key sign of excess temperature is when the external enamel develops a series of €˜hair-line € cracks around the base.

As we have no way of knowing how a customer uses the pans, we always give them the opportunity of sending the pan in for an inspection. We will then inspect it, if we have a telephone number we will contact the consumer and discuss it with them or we send a letter out with our findings, offering solutions and advice.
