Good Points

Staff friendly. Ports of call excellent

Bad Points

Ship is old. Our room was OK - but some people had to put up with a bad smell for the whole cruise. Catering staff just not up to cruise standards.

General Comments

Sadly disappointed with the Emerald. The food was poor. I have never had to send food back on a cruise ship before. Also the set meal times were a real hindrance. Food was not served 24 hours as on all previous ships we had been on. My husband is a diabetic and we had to resort to room service on 2 separate occasions as there was no food to be found on the ship. The staff were ok. We were really surprised to see it still in Thomson's brochure for this year.

I found this review unhelpful because it is a subjective view based on lack of research by the reviewer. As her husband is a diabetic they should have booked a cruise on a ship were food is available 24/7. They obviously did not do so and perhaps this soured the reviewer's view of the Emerald.
