The trusty VHS tape is still superior to DVD. Lite On made the fastest rewinding machine I have ever seen and we use it to rewind a whole VHS in seconds.
The DVD player is easily confused and rarely knows what to do, and takes an eternity to decide. If you leave a disc in, it runs at high speed and can be heard around the world. If you record you HAVE to remember to lock it, or your recording is history. But the player doesn't care and happily lets you eject without saving, by accident. Your recording is gone.
I will never by another Lite On DVD anything. DVD's in general are horrible, and this device just makes the experience worse. It's the most basic system I have seen, and if you want to use it for simple tape to disc transfers then take the time to learn it's little attitude problems.
