Good Points

Good and simple Web site interface with good dialing history, dialing shortcuts, and instant access numbers. Cheapest consistently good international service to Honduras. No connection or other add-on fees. No silly "added services" that add on fees for no additional value. I pay what they say I am are going to pay, per minute.

Bad Points

I've have very few complaints about Tel3. For a while I had problems with Tel3 connections, but they went away after I bumped Vonage bandwidth to the maximum possible. Most problems are attributable to high usage periods (e.g. Mother's Day), which wouldn't be limited to any particular provider.

General Comments

I have used Tel3 since August 2001 and have had very good experience with it. I primarily use Tel3 for dialing my wife's family in Honduras as well as some domestic dialing. There are some Latin America cards that claim cheaper International rates, but they almost uniformly have connection problems (lowest priority for the lines), and the cheapest card services always have connection fees or other add-on costs that quickly eat away at a card's discounted value. Other people complain about Tel3 customer service, but I've never had a problem. I've had worse times and longer waits with some of the standard monopoly providers. I've always got someone that helped me when I called Tel3 customer service. If you are using an IP telephony provider (such as Vonage), Tel3 and other IP-telephony services get better connections with higher speeds and wider bandwidth. Regardless of the speed, make sure that you set your IP-telephony provider to use a higher or highest possible bandwidth. An IP telephone service like Tel3 depends on the voice to internet connection at each end, and eventually has to connect into possibly overloaded POT services for the final connection to a dialed party.
