They left me alone for 13 years? They raised my credit a few times without me asking. :)
I had my account with them for 13+yrs. NEVER a late payment. For most of that time I have had a $0 balance. What do they do to a perfect 13yr customer? They closed my account for inactivity since Nov 2007. I don't use the card for 5 months, have a zero balance so you cancel my card? They wouldn't turn it on when I complained either. Even after going from person to person and getting a supervisor! She claimed it was IMPOSSIBLE to turn back on. Apply again. Goodbye.
This card is MBNA/HSBC Direct Merchants. I fought and argued to no avail. Now I have to wait and see if it hurts my credit at all. There are many places on the web that say keep your oldest cards and that canceling them will drop your score even though nothing was wrong with the account. I guess I'll find out soon.
