Good Points

Power, open sights, manual safety, light weight, ease of maintenance.

Bad Points

Heavy single stage trigger-not in class of Rekord trigger fitted to Weihrauchs.

Foresight staked to barrel with a set screw-should have been dovetailed to ensure better alignment with rear sight .

Barrel should have been designed to pivot around a bolt not a pin.

General Comments

Bought my Vulcan in .22 cal back in 1980 from my mum's Great Universal catalogue for 43 pounds! After sighting it in I have used this rifle over the years to lay waste to all manner of pests.

The fit and finish of this rifle is very good even after 28 years and is comparable to more modern fare. The blueing is quite lustrous and the beech stock quite pleasing to the eye with a rubber butt pad to absorb the very modest recoil.

The power of this rifle is more than up to the job for hunting, plinking and pest control. I find the cocking effort not too hard and with more pellets put through it becomes smoother with use. The firing cycle is smooth with not too much spring vibration.

I like the option of a manual safety, these days manufacturers treat owners like idiots and stiff us with the automatic variety. The trigger is regretfully a single stage affair, quite long and somewhat heavy but I have become used to it.

In terms of accuracy I find the rifle very good. Whilst I consider myself a reasonable shot, using the open sights on a good day I can group 10 shots in 1" at 25yds using Beeman FTS pellets.

Overall I find the rifle to be excellent and these days can be procured quite cheaply. If you find one buy it, put a tune kit in it and you'll have a very capable weapon for not a lot of money.
