General Comments

I've recently flew TG in C from LHR-BKK (night flight) and would like to report what I've experienced>
Check-In
I checked in 4 hours before departure at the dedicated business class counter (there were two and I didn't have to queue). TG use SAS staff for ground handling, they're friendly and efficient. My request for seat 16A (exit-row, upper deck) was granted. My luggage was 5 kilo over limit and I was not charged, the lady didn't even say anything.
Security
LHR T3 have fast track security lane for premium passengers. Waiting time was about 5 minutes.
Lounge
I visited Singapore Airlines' SilverKris lounge. It is the best *A lounge in T3 IMO. Staff are very friendly and food (hot/cold) are plentiful. There is also a bar with barmaids. Wi-Fi access is free upon request of a T-mobile password card from the reception.
Boarding
Crowded waiting room by the gate, had to wait a bit until called for boarding. Otherwise it wasn't that terrible.
On board
Extremely spacious cabin, particularly my seat which had virtually unlimited pitch. The carpet and seat upholstery were pristine. I was promptly served a glass of champagne (unheard label) and hot towel on arrival at my seat. An amenity kit was already put on the seat, this contains toothbrush, socks, eyeshades, lip balm etc. Sadly it is no longer branded (i.e. Biotherm or Dupont), however it is still better than not getting anything. Menu and wine list were handed out before take off and orders taken.
Once cleared for taxi, the captain announced over the P.A. that we had to wait at LHR for an hour due to "traffic congestion" (usual Heathrow business). The cabin crew responded efficiently by activating the IFE and serving snacks and drinks.
Cabin crew
Dressed beautifully, the crew offered graceful service. There are always smiling and respond to requests very efficiently. There are seen walking along the aisle regularly during the flight. I was given a glass of icy coke and Japanese crisps while watching movie during the night without having to ask for!
Food and Beverages
Dinner served on starch white table cloth
- starter (fish cake) - salad with balsamic dressing - warm garlic breads - Scottish smoked salmon appetizer - choice of oriental or western main course (I had roasted duck and rice)- fresh fruits and cheese - tiramisu
I thoroughly enjoyed the five course dinner served on board. Service was excellent.
Breakfast
- fresh fruit plate - yoghurt - croissant - Thai noodle
Drinks
- 8 different labels of red and white wine to choose
- Gold label JW - Remy X.O and more...
Seat
The B747-400 used on BKK-LHR-BKK route is equipped with the relatively new angled lie-flat seats in business class. I occasionally find my self sliding off the seat during turbulence, however I managed to get a good six hour of sleep. It was comfy enough and the massage function was useful.
IFE
Nearly as good as SQ KrisWorld, Thai Vision entertainment system offered on demand selections of audio and video contents which are up to date. I enjoyed a couple of movies (Ratatouille and Transformers).
Arrival
* Suvarnabhumi Airport was VERY HOT!!!!!
I deplaned after first class passengers and had to walk about 10 minutes to immigration. There were no fast track immigration for C class passengers. My luggage arrived in 15 minutes after I got to the baggage carrousel.
Bottom Line
Superb service and comfortable seat at half the price of BA makes TG the best way to travel direct from London to Bangkok.
