Great equipment and pool facilities, good yoga classes, convenient location.
Since virgin active took over holmes place kensington gym, pool & changing room are extremely overcrowded after 6pm, too much time allocated for families and as a result pool is of no use every morning. facilities like sauna, gym, steam room are often out of order.
nasty fire drills - when just for the sake of fire testing the personel forces everyone to get out (sweaty in your gymwear, or swim.costum &towel - to the rainy street, just like that) - totally unacceptable.
Since the club has been taken over by virgin active the relaxing and luxury feeling that the members were getting for their money is gone. now the atmosphere is same as in a cheap club, only for x 5 the price.
extremely overcrowded.
there is a feeling that the management is trying to save the money on everything: the shampoo, conditioners and cream hav been replaced from molton brown to some cheap stuff,cheap paper and tissues in the bathrooms, etc;
it is still the nearest gym to where i live, so i am still using it, but really hurts paying same amount (even slightly more) than what i used to pay for a lovely holmes place atmosphere. also when renewing the contract (after 7 years of membership) i have ended up being tricked into a year contract without a possibility to get out before the term ends...
If for any reasons you decide to join - make sure to insist that the contract is not for the whole year, otherwise it is very difficult to get out of it.
