Mandatory sales pitch to activate card; website has been down for two days; balance is false


General Comments

Other credit cards have an automated activation process. This one required sitting though a live person going through a very long script for monthly "protection" fees. The way they phrased it was they were signing me up now. Took saying no seven or eight times and finally saying I was hanging up.

The HSBC credit card website has been non-functional since I activated the card. Can't log in, can't check balance, can't make payments. As far as I know, the website doesn't work at all...

Calling to check about the website, my balance was listed as zero, but I made a large purchase yesterday. This fake zero balance seems like a great way to go over your balance and get slammed with massive fees.

Getting confirmation that the site was broken, had to sit though another sales pitch for "protection" fees.
