acraig's review of Renault Clio DCi Expression (80bhp)

★★★★☆

“Bought my wife a 54 plate Renault Clio Privilege 1.5...”

Good Points
Excellent stereo, fantastic fuel economy (70+ on the motorway), nippy performance, good road holding, low tax and insurance. Very responsive engine without the need to rev it hard.

Bad Points
Sun roof rattle (yes Renault it is very annoying!), no instant mpg on display (standard in Europe), rear number plate light assembly corroded (no seals on the design). Leg room in back restricted for large adults.

General Comments
Bought my wife a 54 plate Renault Clio Privilege 1.5 dCi 80, Sept 07 from main Salisbury. New turbo fitted during the service, under warranty. Also took extended Renault warranty for further two years. Apart from the annoying sunroof rattle and discovering the number plate connector has corroded it ' s been a good reliable car returning around 53mpg on the school run (5 miles). Today I drove return trip Bournemouth to Cardiff (the first time I was allowed to ' borrow ' her car). I was surprised at just how nippy it is. Handling is positive on the corners, plenty of power for overtaking and cruised without effort on the motorway. Pulls well from 2000 rpm passing other diesels on the hills without effort. It returned 73.5mpg on the trip.
