Good Points

The Patriot is a very solid gun, well made and very, very, powerful. To get the most from this gun you need a good scope, a good scope mount, and sling. A rest when you can get it almost assures a hit at any reasonable distance. I read many reviews before I bought mine about one year ago, so I was not surprised by the weight or the cocking effort. As the old saying goes you can not have your cake and eat it too. I decided on the .22 cal. and love it. I thought about the .25 but I liked the straighter trajectory of the .22. I have tried quite a few pellets to find one that worked best for me. I did limit myself to the Beeman brand being spoiled over the years with their quality. The one that works best for me is Beeman Ram Jet, a straight shooter and great knock down power. Most blackbird and starlings avoid my property like the plague. I do not hunt with mine I just try and control those two pests around my property. As long as I can purchase this brand and make of pellets I will not use anything else. I always say stick with a winning game, change a losing game. I hate to wound if I am shooting at anything living so when this gun hits its target and as the saying goes drops like a rock, it is a very good feeling. Now, I do not hunt in the field with it, I do not carry it over long distances, if that was my objective than I would look at different guns. For my purposes, mostly stationary shots close to home, I simply love the gun.

Bad Points

Since weight and cocking effort was already known to me those are not worth mentioning, besides I like a little exercise now and then. The one thing that perhaps I was not real happy with is having it seem to like one pellet so much more than another.

General Comments

For my shooting characteristics, this gun was made for me, a perfect fit. I am very happy with the workmanship, accuracy, and especially the power. Is this gun the right fit for most, probably not, you must analyze what you want from a gun, how you are going to use it, and then do your research. If you do, then there is a very good chance you will write a very good review on whatever product you are reviewing.

I agree with this review because... Well put robo. I bought this gun in .25 cal. several years ago & expected a heavy gun that was not like cocking a redrider bbgun & thats what I got. I would not recomend this gun for pop can shooting with the kids.
