The chance to ski - in Manchester!
Snow quality is good
Organisation, price, button lifts - if you are not used to them, Queuing, "Don't care" attitude of majority of staff
I have been twice now. I live 45 miles away and work during the week so have only been able to go at weekends. Both occasions it has been extremely crowded - in my opinion, overbooked. Both sessions were for 1.5 hours, however the 1st time I went I managed to do 5 runs in that time - when you consider it take 30-45 seconds to ski down from the top, that equates to less than 5 minutes skiing and 1 hour 25 minutes of queuing - sorry but that is ridiculous !!
I was also with my 9 year old son who was not so confident on the button drag - I asked one of the assistants if she would pass him the button when it came round - she replied "he shouldn't be on here if he can't do it himself" - I just grinned!! The 2nd time we went, I booked for 9:00am Saturday hoping it would be quiet. However only one lift was working (other had broke) and the slope hadn't been groomed due to a hydraulic failure on the groomer! For a weekend this was probably the quietest time, however by 9:45 it was crowded and everyone was heading for the one lift. I got 8 runs in in the first 45 mins, and then 3 in the last 45 mins. Many people where forcing past the electronic barriers that are meant to lock you out after your time is up, as they were so fed up of queuing that they were adamant they would have another go. Other people just walked off and prepared to square up to the management.
So my advice is - be very careful about the time you choose to go, midweek working hours are the quietest. Be self sufficient, don't expect too much assistance from the staff as it is your privilege to be there, not there's to help you!
