Simple to use and very stable. Has a similar 'feel' to other Microsoft products particularly XP..you won't be as lost migrating to this as say from Office 2003 to Office 2007.
Very basic. No Aeroglass menu's. Poor network connection: it won't allow you to join a server/ domain network. No system backup installed. Uses an indecent amount of RAM to do very little.
No point in migrating from XP to Vista Basic. All the new Vista bells and whistles are reserved for the expensive versions.
I bought a basic laptop with Vista Basic pre-installed and played with it for a few days before reformatting and installing XP Pro. With 1Gb of RAM XP flies along and does everything Vista Basic does and a lot more. My main issue was networking as my laptop has to connect to an office LAN and Vista Basic won't.
Too basic.. fine for very simple 'stand alone use but too simple for an advanced / business user.
