Ok I'll admit it, i really wanted this rifle based on its dramatic looks! However I am a stickler for research and after much of it I realised that it could be a good purchase. I went to my local gunshop and got one brand new in .22 for '£200 on the nose, a great deal. I then scoped it with a JSR 3-9X50 illuminated adjustable objective AO lens for '£60, plus one piece accushot mounts and bag and pellets and sling etc etc.
The result? What a setup! This rifle is beautiful in look as mentioned with killer sniper looks and great accuracy out to 45 yards with applied hold over calculated. It sits in the shoulder comfortably has a great ergonomics on the stock and fires smoothly and crisply with Crosman Accupels.
Example - at a local shooting range a chap with a .177 version and smaller non AO scope was visibly taken a back when he shouldered my rig and fired. For me these small differences with little or no extra cost are worth it.
Buy once, buy right and the boys from BSA have got a true gem on their hands.
I could not personally cope with the souless PCP and pneumatic offerings on sale today. A springer is imperfect and demands skill, patience and technique far beyond that of those listed. If you get one i guarantee you'll smile and it'll last a life time in its classically styled synthetic stock.
