Runco VX3 Review

Good Points
Incredible picture quality in NTSC *and* HDTV. This projector throws a bright, clear picture in broad daylight, as compared with the very faint image of the VX1 in the same light.

Bad Points
Noise. This monster is incredibly loud. Expect to build a soundproof enclosure, or place behind wall in theater.

General Comments
The VX3 is without a doubt the pinnacle of home theater technology. Clarity and brightness are unmatched in the field. As for versatility, when combined with a Runco line multiplier that upscales source imagery, you can throw anything at it from antenna NTSC (or PAL), to HDTV to XGA (1024x768) computer displays and it doesn't even blink.



I was buying a VX1, and when I saw the picture clarity of the VX3 *in broad daylight*, which was better than the VX1 in pitch dark, I was sold.



Fantastic unit.



Downside : Replacement lamp needed after 2,000 hours costs US$2,500
