1998 740i is elegant, quiet, safe, has great performance, is enjoyable to drive and is very refined! A sumptuous luxury car with plenty of pulling power; powerful yet graceful. It is stunning on the motorway at high speed. The boot is massive. Good multi-function steering wheel.
Although there are occasional electrical gremlins, it is mechanically sound. Some buttons and switches are confusing but generally all are easy to use. Main thing is that it can be EXPENSIVE to run and service correctly. I am going to convert mine to LPG next month.
It is a very pleasant car to drive and own and it s capable of very high mileages (200,000 +). A problem is that it is so safe, quiet and fast that it is possible to lose control by driving too fast around corners without realising the speed you are actually going at.
