Good Points

Voice dialling - that's it. One good point only.

Bad Points

Complete dog of a user interface.
Can't save numbers easily,
can't retrieve numbers easily
can't find messages quickly,
have to move your fingers between every chuffing key to do anything.

General Comments

Excuse me MOT, but this phones interface is rubbish, plain and simple.

If ANY of your product developers EVER used a Nokia they would all have to curl up and die of shame realising the staggering ineptitude of what they had unleashed on the 260

It is quite simply NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

I would NEVER recommend it to anyone.

It is awful.

TRY AGAIN - stay behind after class and write 1000000 times

"I SHOULD PLAY WITH A NOKIA AND THEN RE-WRITE THE TIMEPORT USER INTERFACE - SORRY"

Maybe you are so stuped that you can`t even store number in a phone?

  • Graeme. on 9th Dec 2001

If you read the review you'll see it says "can't store numbers easily" - see that word EASILY, and in this context it means not as easily as on a Nokia.

I can only assume you're so stupid (correct spelling!) that you work for Motorola and if so, how are your share options lately ?!

    See you around.

You obviously haven't used a Motorola Phone before this one, otherwise you would know that ALL their phones until recently used virtually the same user interface-"Personality". And if you really dislike the phone/menu that much you always have(or had) the option to return it within 14 days... and in defence the quick access menu allows you to get to a desired menu with 2 key presses, whether its to write sms, read sms, etc. No other menu can access these options that quickly.
I can see why you dislike the menus but to be fair most people buying Motorola buy them for their Solidity, reliability, signal strength, tri band, Voicenotes, and call quality, which is generally superior to those popular Nokia phones with no aerials. Nokia have NEVER released a tri band phone, only the 8890 which is 900/1900, which is very lazy. Nokia are the best/quickest for user menus and sending sms, no doubt, but its not the be all and end all...or is it?! Motorola will improve their menus, I hope Nokia also decide to stop releasing bugged phones like the 6210 which has to be the most bugged/unreliable phone I have come across working for Network services for a major mobile network. The amount of 6210 which freeze up, battery becomes loose etc is unbelievable, software upgrades don't always cure this problem either, The 8210 also has many duff models where the screen goes crazy ("pixellates") after a few weeks, months etc. Its a well known problem and a design fault in the phone!! I have used both and for size/usabilty its Nokia, but for call quality, holding onto signal in weak area, more features+ reliabilty its Motorola.

I agree with Graeme the author of this review. This is possibly the worse phone I have ever had the misfortune to use. I can only echo everything Graeme has said. Only adding that the reception is very poor. I currently have a loan Nokia 6310i which is far superior and is a tri-band phone!
