Good Points

It's sexy. The slide feels great and the action feels sturdy. I resisted getting a flip/slide phone because moving parts equals parts that can fall to bits but I gave this slide one go and threw that idea out the window.

The screen is superb. Big, bright and vibrant.

The camera is a beast. Anyone who says otherwise needs to get a digital camera and affix it to their phone with sticky tape. It has a bewildering array of options and a flash that doubles as a very handy torch if need be.

Great reception, resilient keypad and you can hang up calls by closing the slider which is possibly the coolest thing anyone can do anywhere ever.

Bad Points

ALL the ringtones blow.

You can't customise the sms alert, and the options presented cover the gamut of all that sucks without ever offering a simple beep-beep. All are very florid and overdone and FAR too quiet.

The phone can't vibrate and ring at the same time. Needs to vibrate first, then ring. Repeat. It's ridiculous. Why the hell not?!

Messaging is cumbersome. The raised edge around the keypad means hitting the space key (#) is difficult for a right-hander as it's hard up against the edge. Putting in a single special character requires a minimum of five clicks. A dollar sign will take you eight. Yep, count 'em. Just did it then. Again, ridiculous. Sending the message requires similarly convoluted button pressing.

Just so you know, this phone can't Bluejack. It has some passkey setup to link with another device which is probably kinda sensible but sensible doesn't let me mess with people's heads on the train.

General Comments

All up? I love it! Disregard all those knockers who won't be satisfied until a Samsung employee feeds them grapes while another dials the numbers for them. It's sturdy, stylish, feature-packed and a few admittedly quite bewildering shortcomings aside (WHY CAN'T IT RING AND VIBRATE AT THE SAME TIME??????) I love it to bits and you probably will too.
