Good Points

Nice professional looking site.
Good traditional UK reputation.
Nice in-store customer service agents


Bad Points

- Sloooooooooooow, with no support or genuine advise.
-Definite evidence of poor at communicating between their internal departments.
-The online Whsmiths is not the same company as the highstreet store - means lack of accountability.


General Comments

Ordered a week ago on a product that was 'in stock' (and still is) to be delivered in store in Sheffield. Still waiting. They've taken money out my account the day after ordering (there terms and conditions state they only do so when ready for dispatch). The online status of my order is still unchanged at 'in progress'.

Reading their terms and conditions, FAQ's etc (accessed 28/02/08) they appear to be very vague on the whole ordering when it arrives etc... (when trying to loo up more details, some hyperlinks in the t&c are cyclical and return you to the same page????).

Overall, they are a very poor reactive attempt at competing against companies such as amazon with obvious supply problems (which they openly admit too! -the staff instore).

Would some private equity firm please please please buy these guys out before they get too lost and die a slow disheartening death!!! They represent the old UK shops and should not go down the plan!
