Remington quality, great looks, durable design, easy loading and unloading, no rattling parts(vs 870). Easy take down
My brother and I co-own a Remington Special puropse 11-87 with a floating slug barrel. This gun chambers a 2 3/4 and 3" shell.
It's current and only configuration lends it to be a slug only shotgun.
The finish is matte black with a single bead on the barrels' end for sighting. Bore sights will work, but a scope is recommended, especially with a slug.
Slug guns are really for a "closer" target and no good after 100yards.
The Remington 11-87 is a beautiful firearm with sexy looks and a great feel and balance to it. Due to the fact that this is "special purpose" slugster, it is very heavy.
You'll be in for a suprise if you think that just because the barrel is short, that this will be a light shotgun. WRONG!
quite short in stature but quite robust in weight.
A comparable shotgun would be the Mossberg 590 special purpose. The Mossbergs' are also reknown for their quality and finish however, have receivers that are made from aluminum instead of the heavier steel that comprises all of Remingtons' shotgun receivers.
The price is high for a shotgun of this caliber(no pun intended), but the alternatives are Benelli and Winchester-both of who's prices trump Remingtons' by a long shot.
Best gun for the money. Bank on Remingtons' reliability and longevity. Also, parts a readily available for these shotguns anywhere.
