Flight NY to London was ok, with friendly, helpful crew and good food (for an airline!).
Best value flight for required dates.
London to NY flight had rude staff, who got drinks for my family more wrong than right. They disappeared for 4.5 hours during the flight after lunch and before they served the snack at the end. No sight of them. This flight was much longer in than NY-LDN and we were served one less drink.
Food bland and unimaginative to NY.
One steward nearly knocked my head with the metal trolley because she wasn't looking where she was going...and at quite high speed.
Inflight entertainment temperamental on both journeys. One way they had to restart it, and then my screen kept switching to black and white. Other journey my screen kept switching off.
I probably saved £200 for a family of 4 booking with AA rather than Virgin, which I spent on 3 nice meals out in NY - definitely worth the bad experiences on the flight out! Would travel again with AA only if significantly cheaper than alternatives.
