Bad Points
When you really need them, they do not help you. Hidden charges, excessive charges. Always selling you other services not getting you what you need. Loads of junk mail.
General Comments
I banked with TSB and then LloydsTSB for 20 years.
They have been a good supportive bank in the past, but now they are useless.
They charge you for their current account and the charges keep going up. You can not opt out of this and the bso called 'benefits' are useless. I have been fortunate to be in a sound financial position for most of my working life and of late they have been only too happy to increase credit card limits and always offering me loans. Their call centres are not in UK and I find it incredibly difficult to resolve any issues. I made a payment to my credit card using the phone bank facility. The payment went to a very old card which I had about 8 years ago, which I thought had been cancelled.
I got a charge for non payment of my active credit card and upon notification of this I phoned to try find out where my payment had gone. It took me 7 phone calls to get through to the person who could tell me. So they moved my payment from the old card to the intended one. They have now reactivated my old card and are telling me I owe the the amount that was paid onto the card in error. They are charging me late payment fees and sending letters demanding payment I made. I have spent over 3 hours on 26! phone calls trying to get this resolved. I am now prepared to take this to court if necessary so they can realise what they have done! My other gripe is their charges. If you go over your agreed overdraft. they charge an incredible amount of money. I spoke to them and said please do not pay anything to put me over my 50 overdraft but they say that can not be done. This has occurred because I lost my job and when I asked for a temporary increase in my overdraft to cover me whilst i stated my new job they refused which left me with £300 of charges from one month. I have always had my salary paid in and I have not gone over my agreed overdraft limit. The one time I needed them they did not help. I am leaving them asap.
Anybody that rates them highly can not have needed them in times of trouble. I have been an impeccable customer and they have been a disgrace. Their stealth charges are abhorrent and their over selling of their products is down right irritating.
