General Comments

We have used 240 volt English kettles in the US for two decades, replacing them with newer models as they usually developed leaks after several years. On our last visit to Old Blighty in 2006, we noticed an Acclario at a friend's house and decided to buy one and take it back to the US. It has worked fine for almost two years now.
At first, we were living in North Carolina where the local water system delivered an excess of chlorine, some brownish sludge and an occasional iron taste, all of which the Acclario removed, delivering us really nice tea.
We moved to coastal Florida where the water is downright sulphurous, and the Acclario similarly removes the untoward tastes and gives us lovely tea. (Oh, yes, we do also carry a large supply of nice, strong Tesco tea bags with us on each return to the US. Yank tea is so weak it needs crutches!)
If you are going to the US, be sure to take your own kettle, which can be connected to the cooker, oven or water heater 220v circuit in an American house...but don't brag about it, for there is likely to be some officious Yank electrician who doesn't understand brown, blue and green wires.)
