General Comments
I bought my steam cleaner from ebay, from someone who had only used the cleaner once to clean a rug, and found it satisfactory for that purpose, but as he was moving abroad, decided to sell it. When I received the machine it was in perfect working order, lovely boxed and new, but yet I noticed that the design of it was quite flimsy when I started to use it, namely the hose and attachments, and when using the machine, they bent under the pressure of trying to simply push the hoover head forward. It is very difficult to use as a normal vacuum, and I found myself only being able to repeatedly lift the end off the floor to move it, then pulling it back towards me when in contact with the floor. It seems, whilst the suction is very good, the hose and attachments cannot function under the pressure. I am someone who suffers from disc problems in my lower back, so could not continue for more than a few minutes at a time. Also, I found that the hose end (not the steam connection) connected to the base fell out a lot, as for some reason, it has not been designed to 'swivel' from normal movement about the house.
Moreover, what worried and alarmed me more was, after only about 3 hours of steaming carpets (it was bought to rid the whole house of allergens) as I was pulling the trigger to release steam, there was a snapping noise inside the handle, and steam actually started to pour out of the trigger. If I had not moved so swiftly, I could have been severely burned. Before this happened, I did worry that it might be unsafe as, even though I had correctly locked the attachments together, brushing the hose past a sofa whilst steaming, the lock mechanism caught easily on the fabric, and the hose end shot off under the pressure.
I would hate that someone else got hurt by this product. I am also asking for help in any details with regards to the manufacturers. There was no information inside the box and, from my research on the internet, I cannot find a point of contact so as to advise and complain of my experience.
Generally I have found it an awful, completely useless dangerous product. I'm left with a giant piece of heavy plastic that doesn't function in any way. It is a travesty that something of this price should behave so poorly from such little handling.
