A BMW M5 hunter which may give Jaguar a much-needed boost.
More modern sedan-type looks but still "olde-worlde" Jaguar. Rear is reminiscent of the new Mondeo, while overall design is beautifully more Volvo-esque.
British designed & built, just as Jaguar should be.
A sound system to give you bleeding eardrums and loosen your fillings (car magazine "AutoCar" claim it's the best they've heard...).
Estimates on re-sale value that could out-do BMW and Mercedes.
Complaints of the ride being "too firm".
In a world where Jaguar has been a bit slow in joining the 21st century, the XF shows that the big cat can still roar loud and proud.
In what may be one of the last new models produced under it's Ford-Premier Automotive Group parentage, the new Jaguar XF shows that Jag may be about to re-invent and become the Brit prestige brand they once were.
With looks that remind us of it's cousins, the Ford Mondeo and the Volvo range, the Jaguar XF would appear to be a challenger to the BMW M5 sport sedan. The bodywork is definitely more up-to-date, with curves in all the right places, yet still the rigid, tough-looking exterior that means business.
The sound system deserves praise too. Full iPod interface (rather than just a connector jack or socket) and some brutal speakers whose output can curdle mud at 100 yards, this system may be the most enjoyable way to go deaf since U2's Zoo TV tour. You can be certain that whether your musical taste is Elgar or Motorhead, you'll get the best.
The drive is an experience to behold. The 2.7 diesel is smooth, with a paddle-shift gear system that outperforms even Jag's XK! Combine this with a sleek cockpit and nice extras like touch-sensitive interior lights mean you'll remember the ride for all the right reasons.
The XF's aerodynamics and economy is certainly good. With allegations of figure-fudging to please eco-warriors during recent years, it's accepted that Jag's official figures for economy are as close to reality (as opposed to laboratory) as they can be.
With this welcome member of Jaguar's line-up, the fortunes of the near non-profit making Jaguar car company are starting to look quite rosy. Stand by for these beautiful beasts filling up company car parks UK wide by the end of the year.
