General Comments

I arranged to switch my phone supplier from BT to the Post Office, tempted as I was by the offer of 50 quid and the irony of having a phone supply run by them 20+ years after privatisation. It was the first time I had switched suppliers, so I was a little naive as to the process. Nothing, however could prepare me for the disorganisation that followed.
After a few weeks I received a welcome pack which included a "go live" date, the promise of excellent service & value and further talk of the £50 sweetener to come. I duly cancelled my direct debit to BT from the indicated start-date of my new contract, and all seemed to be well for a couple of months except for the distinct absence of my £50 postal order.
Then, quite by surprize I recieved a final demand from BT for my last 2 months phone use. When I queried this, saying I was now with the Post Office, it turned out that I hadn't been switched yet, and the "Live" date had just been the date I was put on their waiting list. ( This was the first I had been told of this). The P.O. customer service claimed they had had an unprecedented response to their offer, and were therefore "too busy" to cope with any more customers. I asked for an indication as to how long I would have to wait to switch, but the answer was non-committal. Later I received a call saying that if I could wait another three weeks, the Post Office could connect me, and they promised me another £20 if I would honour my agreement. I gave them another chance, but three weeks came and went, six weeks came and went, and despite numerous phone calls/emails, there was no sign of a new phone service and no £70. After that I gave up!
