“The Ford Fiesta Freestyle was a good first time car...”

★★★★☆

written by on 18/02/2008

Good Points
I thought it was easy to drive(see comment below), efficient on petrol, Never broke down engine wise!

Bad Points
My brother (a mechanic) said it handled "like a bag of spuds!" Security (see below). Trying to get the damn thing in 5th! Power (trying to go up a slight slope was embarrassing on A23! slows down to 50 miles per hour, whether in 4th or 5th!).

General Comments
The Ford Fiesta Freestyle was a good first time car for me. But had major problems with "lucy" (which shortly turned to "Lucifer") But these weren't neccessarily the cars fault.
I just needed a cheap to run car as I worked at the airport and as worked ridiculous hours I needed a car.
Three days after getting it some stupid prat reversed into the side of my car denting the rear fender in the staff car park (was not impressed especially after reviewing security tapes and discovering the culprit was a BA pilot! Thought they would be able to drive!)
Then a few weeks later a stuck up bitch in a 4x4 decided that she couldn't get out of her car parking space so thought she would reverse into my car and push it back so she could get out! (I was standing there watching her needless to say some disgusting foul language came out of my mouth!)
This resulted in both the lights hanging of the car, buckling the framework, destroying the brakes and her getting arrested for leaving the scene of an accident! (she drove of and I rang the police!) After I got my brother to fix all the damage I was told that he wouldn't pass its next MOT grrrr! Still had a few months left on it and was declared roadworthy.
Next was driving to work and rear left tyre blew making me scream like a 5 year old girl. How I kept control on a busy A road in peak hour traffic without killing myself and everyone around me I'll never know! Just kept thinking "steer into the skid!"
It got broken into twice, the first time resulted in the drivers door having to be replaced. The 2nd time declared the car a write off. Thanks to the immobiliser they couldn't actually start the car but then set about destroying the car, ripping of the ignition, ripping out the electrics, smashing the window and generally doing as much damage as they could do it (no I didn't hear a single thing, live in the city and the car was parked one street away).
Lynx insurance wouldn't pay out as I was 3rd party fire and theft and despite a police report saying "attemtped theft" insurance company decided it was "vandilism" so refused to pay out!
Learnt two things. One never to use Lynx Insurance again, 2nd always go fully comp!
Despite all of the above I would get a Fiesta again!
