The KOSS Plug are a good starter as an upgrade for the freebie headphones supplied with you portable music player.
Firstly, the earphone comes with three different size of foam earplug, hexagonal, circle and cone-shaped. I use the cone -shaped. They block out 80% external noise which is good enough for the commute to work and gym use, which suits me perfectly. The bass response is excellent wide and deep but tight at the same time. the mid-range and treble is good. they are extremely comfortable to such an extent you may forget you have them on!
The earbuds once squished too many times do need replacing say after 6 months use. I use my 'PLUGS' almost every day for at least 2 hours. The isolation can be somewhat improved so you tend to over-compensate my increasing the volume every so slightly.
Overall, the KOSS Spark Plug Headphones come highly recommended and are at steal at their bargain prices. In fact over the last two years I've bought around 4 pairs. Fortunately I've now found at amazon a supplier that will sell replacement ear plugs so they're even better value.
