Good Points

I've run Alfas for 40 years, and the build quality of modern cars is vastly superior to the Giulias and Alfettas I have owned. Never any criticisim of the engines, 1.6 to 2 litre, which always performed well. The secret was always regular servicing and tuning by people who knew what they were doing. In November 2007 I traded a 147 2-litre lusso Selespeed for a new and unregistered 156 2-litre lusso Selespeed (17-inch alloys, zenon lights etc) from Veloces of London. Aside from the mileometer being in kms - no real problem - I can only say I am delighted with it - the handling, performance and comfort levels are superb and the hard paint finish excellent.

Bad Points

I expect the front Goodyear F1s to wear out within 12 months - but that's front wheel drive for you. A small price to pay.

General Comments

Modern Alfas are able to compete in terms of perforance and quality, with most other comparable marques. Certainly, there is little risk of them rusting to bits like the cars of old, which were not built for our variable climate. Perhaps I am less than objective, but I still think they represent good value for money, given their pedigree and cachet.
