    Have not seen any good points so far in my quest to set up a new business account


    General Comments

    If you download the application form from the web, there is no form for second signatories. This had to be posted and to speed up matters I was advised to take my passport and the form into the local branch. A mortgage advisor invalidates with an incorrect stamp, a few days later I receive a letter of very English which did not make total sense stating that a Mortgage Advisor had unvalidated. The whole process starts again!

    The application was submitted 21st January and I have still not received the bank cards even though the account was set up on 7th Feb and it took 4 days to be notified. I have now received a cheque book but have no prepaid paying in envelopes. The call process could not be poorer, I have been promised a call on two occasions now by an account manager and time deadlines have expired. A formal complaint has been logged and still no contact. The call centre have people with poor language skills and place you on hold before then regularly accidentally cut you off. I have lost out on an £850 transaction due to their failings and I will be closing my account as and when an alternative account is up and running.Do not use if you are serious about running your business. After submitting my original application I then saw the BBC Watchdog Survey last week and was not surprised when I saw Abbey National right at the bottom of the Survey on customer service with 84% of its current customers being dissatisfied with their service. Well done Abbey National!
