General Comments

My wife bought me a BSA 240 Magnum in .177 caliber a few years ago, and this pistol is great! I looked and it appears that they are no longer manufactured, and this is sad, because it's an excellent air pistol. The one thing I did not like about it was the way the sights are adjusted. I prefer click adjustments. However, on all my handguns, once I find the most accurate load, I generally put a dab of glue on the sights to ensure that they don't get "accidentally" adjusted out of alignment by one of my friends. And, once I found this gun shot great with 7.9 grain Crosman Premiers & I sighted the gun in for 25 feet, I epoxied the sights in place, and they've been perfect ever since. The sight picture is quite good, and I have no problem hitting things the size of 1/2" at 25 feet ...provided I do my part of good trigger control! At first, the grips bothered me, but then again, I do have large hands. But five minutes with a file fixed that. And the neutral balance bothered me for a bit (because I am used to pistols that are a bit more muzzle heavy), but the more I shot it, the more I liked it. I used it to dispatch some squirrels at about 25 to 30 feet, and it worked well for that purpose. Mostly, I use it as a backyard plinker, and it affords me much pleasure in that role. I probably shoot this pistol the most, and I love it! As I said, it's a great gun, and it's a shame that BSA no longer makes it. Perhaps they'll read this review and change their minds. =) In the meantime, if you can find one, I think you'll be pleased with it.
