Can be useful if buying for large groups
Not really that much of a value
Dismissal shopping experience
Beyond the unpleasant experience associated with bad customer service and poor queuing at checkout, there is the membership dues to deal with. I have found Costco to be less expensive in some no VAT items. The problem is these items are mostly commodities and there price and mark-ups,in general, are minimal when compared to VAT items. Unlike other stores, you have to make up the membership before you can come out ahead. This means finding numerous items-not one or even a few-on a constant basis that are lower priced than other stores. This can be difficult because other stores have sales promoting key value items that on a per unit basis are often a better deal. Then you got the whole buying in bulk deal, which means you are doing less shopping. This would be great if you didn't have the membership fee to make up. If you are shopping for a small tribe, Costco may work for you; but if you are a normal size family you got some figuring to do. It did not work for my family.
