Superb quality, very stylish, probably the most stylish phone I have ever handled.
Bad Points
I haven't owned a Nokia for some years and was a little disapointed to see that the menu system has changed very little over the years. It is no different to any other Nokia phone with a colour screen and pretty much the same menu system from a Nokia I had EIGHT years ago. Also while texting as I touch the #/arrow key(bottom right of keypad)occasionally the phone would automatically jump to the mindblowingly frustrating predictive text, meaning a journey into the menu system to disable it..WHY!! I am also disappointed that there are no volume keys on the side of the phone and after trawling the menus AND book I can find no way of turning up the(too low) volume!!
General Comments
I know I will probably get monstered by the Nokia people for this(blue writing at the bottom..just watch them go!!) but the Nokia 8910i phone has nothing to justify the high price apart from looks and feel! I am aware that, for example a 7250i retails for £300 but can be bought for free with a contract and this is a £500 phone going for £280 and upwards but why?...with a P900(similar price but completely different thing I know) you can see where the work has gone with the features and menus but with the 8910i it's internal parts are old school, old news.Nokia really does need to address this as apart from the cool exterior I found this phone a little disappointing!...And PLEASE could I ask no keyboard warroirs to leave comments such as "This guy sounds as though he hasn't even held the phone" as that is a bit of a cliche now..I got this phone for a VERY good deal from Vodafone as I am a heavy user but if I had paid the going rate I would not have been a happy chappy! I wasn't after a rubbishy camera or polyphonic ring tones but a little more than this phone offers would have been more acceptable.Unless you can afford or desire status symbols this phone is simply not worth the outlay...Finally altough the reception is very clear I can only give it 8/10 until I find out how to raise the volume and no this isn't my first phone,I had my first in 1988(shopping trolley to carry the battery that lasted about 3 hours!!) and even then if I remember rightly a volume button was in a very obvious place not hidden away in the bowels of the menu system!!

on 23rd Feb 2004for 1 it could have a video recorder and a vga camera! mine is no way near the best camera or video recording phone (20secs) but it has these features to catch the moment. it is also smallish in size and light in weight. it is the nokia "6220"!!! and for its price it is awsome!!! its a proper buisness mans phone as well, the only down side is it aint got bluetooth. for a phone like this "8910i" you would expect state of the art features that are top of the range but it aint got any!!!

If the nokia had state of the art features and also used the materials that it uses,it would have been such a top price cell phone,no one would ever buy.It would be like buying a ferrari.A phone made for a few.So this is why the features are just as the ones needed,so that one that doesn't need all those features, could choose it.

Camera??? pffft... Cameras are for teenagers. I have a Nikon Digital Camera which is 1000 times better than any camera on a phone therefore the 8910i is perfect. It has all the basic features that one needs. no clutter. Im sick of all these kiddie phones. 8910i is an exclusive phone and thats the way it should stay, hence the high price tag. nuff said! good on ya Nokia. There is no other phone that comes close to it in pure style and class.

on 2nd Apr 2004Ok..I am the guy who left the original review, so now I've owned the phone for a while I have changed my mind on a few things. Yes the volume button was easy to find eventuallly but all I can really say is that I LOVE this phone. It's simple but so reliable and the reception is superb(14 countries so far and it's never failed me)..I also love the fact that I don't have to see spotty teenagers in the pub pull the same phone out of their pocket, it is beyond their price range so you get a bit of exclusivity and anyway most of the younger people require the rubbish camera, flashing lights when it rings etc etc This phone is the business in EVERY way,in 15 years of owning all kinds of phones this is the most superior phone I have ever owned!

on 9th Aug 2004I'd still say the phones a bit basic for the price. And it's really ugly. And cameras are fun. And I think the Nokia 8910i is a complete waste of time, money and horrible little bits of titanium.

I dont completely disagree with your points. I too wanted a volume button outside the phone on the side but hey...
On the other hand, i cant find anything MORE this phone could have than simply the needed stuff. I mean besides what it still has and could have had, apart from the camera or the polyphonic ringing tones (i think are outrageous), what else is there that it should have so to justify its price?
I agree it is over priced, and this is because of its materials and construction more than its features. The features i think are enough for everything you will ever need from a mobile phone, plus you have the bluetooth and the email-fax capability just in case. Signal is fine, battery is ok(i would have wanted it to last more, but it is average).
As far as the menu is concerned, i think it is great nokia is keeping most of the same menu features. It gives you less time to learn how to use the phone, thus making in user friendly.
To finish, i made the decision to use the T9 predictive text input one time, and now, i cant write without it! Once you get the hang of it you will see that it is much faster to use, especially with those small buttons on the 8910i.
