I have two of these: one in black and the other in silver. There is a little lever on the other side of the safety. Push the lever down, and pull it out, then remove the slide by pushing the slide forward and lifting it off of the gun. You can see how the safety works(quite simple, really), see how the gun cocks, and clear any pellets that may have gotten stuck between the magazine and the barrel, which is built into the slide. I even switched slides between my black and silver models! They both look extremely cool! One has a silver slide on a black frame, and the other has a black slide on a silver frame. I also switched around the magazines and the takedown levers(the part you used to take the slide off of the frame, IN CASE you didn't know) for a truly custom look. As a final touch, I bought two press-on silencers, and put one on each gun. They look AWESOME!!!!! This really impressed my friends when we had an airsoft skirmish. The gun was very accurate for an airsoft gun. Mine shot 230 feet per second, which is about average for a spring powered airsoft pistol.

  • 45 Competition Shooter Rank: Sergeant on 4th Dec 2003

By the way, mine COULD NOT go through a soda can, even at point blank range, and I wouldn't call 0.5 joules(230 feet per second) high powered. It is average powered for a spring type airsoft pistol.

  • 45 Competition Shooter Rank: Sergeant on 4th Dec 2003

Oh yeah, one more thing: mine has non-adjustable hop-up.

45 competion shooter over here in uk 0.5j is the highest power you can get from a spring gun. now the can thing when i tested my gun out on a tin can it had been used as a target before so that may be the reason why it goes through the 300fps total is only a estimate if i right in saying that your gun is hop up then it is 230fps because the hop up takes off some of the power when the bb pings along the barrel the hop up makes the bb spin but hoe does it do that? easy it adds friction to bb so it slows it down.

  • 45 Competition Shooter Rank: Sergeant on 13th Dec 2003

Right on. Have you tried to take the slide off of it yet? If you don't have one already, buy another taurus in a different color and try mixing and matching the slides, magazines, dissasembly levers etc. Oh yeah, one more thing; try to get a mock silencer for each and maybe a laser sight.

Has anyone got any experience of the Hop-Up vs the non Hop-Up versions of these Airsoft guns?

I wonder is the extra cost worth it.

  • DCHS Rank: Sergeant on 15th Dec 2003

The non hop up model is in my view better for someone who likes to taget shoot but i would think the hop up one would be better for combat

  • 45 Competition Shooter Rank: Sergeant on 15th Jan 2004

I agree with DCHS. The hop-up gives the BB backspin, which in turn makes the BB go farther and gives it more wind resistance, but, as the name implies, makes the BB shoot high. I would use non hop-up to target shoot and hop-up for combat.

    DCHS and 45 Competition Shooter..

    Thanks a lot guys - I have a Beretta M92FS (non hop-up) arriving soon.

Hi all, I have a Taurus PT92F and I think it's great! mine does go through Coke cans, but I clean it using Silicone gun oil in the barrel, but you can also boost it by changing the spring, but this involves stripping it down, and if you're not confident about doing this, DON'T DO IT! But it is pretty simple if you're mechanically minded.

If your pistol is giving .5 joules it's not bad but not powerful. That's just average for a spring powered. I seriously doubt that you can pierce cans as the "SMK S2" has ca3.5 joules and still has trouble piercing aerosols. If you want a high power airsoft pistol get a "Smith & WessonSigma" it has a joule of power making it (someone correct me if I'm wrong) the most powerful non-upgraded spring airsoft pistol on the market.

  • abbas014 Rank: Staff Sergeant on 9th Dec 2004

Almost all of what you are saing is incorrect. there are PLENTY of spring guns that do above 0.5J. read my review on the Maruzen CA870 - that is a springer and it does 295fps (0.84 joules - i chronographed it). the TM armalites do about 280fps and the APS-2 can do over 300. They are all spring and way over 0.5J.

F¬his will not go through an undamaged soda can. For the can test to be valid, the can must be intact. If you flatten the surface that you are going to shoot, this gun might break through. but that will invalidate the coke can test - IT HAS TO BE INTACT AND NOT FLATTENNED!

And this gun does not do 0.5 joules. It does about 0.3.

I don't think someone like you should be allowed to write reviews on this site. you don't use correct grammar and you talk rubbish. Sort yourself out.

abbas014........you are very unkind with your comments on someone's grammar and spelling.
In fact, YOU are not above criticism!
Please try to remember that people who post on this forum may not have English as their first language.

As always, it's the THOUGHT that counts.

  • abbas014 Rank: Staff Sergeant on 20th Dec 2004

its not the grammar that has annoyed me the most. its the amount of rubbish he is talking. I live in the UK too, and the maximum power for any spring gun is NOT 0.5J, it is 1J. that goes for all guns, not just spring ones. take AEGs for example; they do about 0.75J and they are allowed at skirmish sites.

The powers that the retailers give you are always inaccurate. I have only seen 1 site giving proper, accurate fps readings. Most retailers always give 0.5J for all spring pistols, but a KWC one will do about 0.3-0.4J at maximum.
You need at least 0.82 joules to go through a completely intact coke can consistently. my CA870 averages 295.7fps w/0.20g bbs (0.83J) and that can only go through 1 side of a coke can.

  • DCHS Rank: Sergeant on 13th Feb 2005

Right abbas014 do you own a KWC Turus pt92? if not then shut up. Next you take the p out of my spelling and grammar well look at your own comment below you don't spell saying saing sort your self out before criticizing others. I have redone the can test and it goes through one side of a coke can at 5 meters. And my mate did a chrono and using .20g bbs it got 302fps. Also both I and my mate have Maruzen CA870s and what you are saying about it is totally rubbish. Using .20gbbs it only does 200fps. And makes a dent in a can. Get your facts straight.
at the time I bought it 0.5 was the highest power spring pistol i could find.

  • RedSaBre on 5th Jun 2005

Well 2 add 2 the Convo a few years ago I bought this real cheap air gun you could see the bb leaving the barral when you fired it it really was weak power problably about 10 fps, BUT using metal bbs it was able to go through BOTH sides of a glass milk bottle without shattering glass just 2 small holes each side so maybe it is to do with the hardness of the bbs? Anyway thinking of getting a kwc berretta which fires at 0.5j what ever that is, can anyone tell me if it is powerful? plus is it a realistic looking gun, not to toy looking. Also not sure how to work out the j (julst) is 0.5 better than 0.3 ect (used to fps) cheers RedsabRE

  • Bertie Rank: Major-GeneralCompetition Winner on 6th Jun 2005

RedSaBre.......yes, 0.5 Joules is more powerful than 0.3. The higher the number, the higher the power.

There are plenty of conversion tables on the Net.

  • RedSaBre on 10th Jun 2005

Yea thanks for that worked that bit out myself by the time I checked the forum :)

Anyone used a ICS Full Metal MP5 A4 (the new addition not 1st and second) have heared they are wicked just wondering if anyone here has some experience first hand?
