Good Points

Cheap .co.uk and other domains.

Bad Points

Hidden "points" in contract.
Extremely poor aftersales attitude.
Unprofessional support staff attitude.

General Comments

This is a real joke... I had a .co.uk and .com registered with oneandone.co.uk and webspace with another web hosting provider and when I called 1&1 they REFUSED to update their dns entries for it. I changed my webspace subscription to a .com and called them again. I was told that "it could take up to 2 weeks to be done because it's a favour they do to customers".

Also, even they they state that "you can cancel your contract at any time with us", they do not clearly say that this does not apply to domain regs (hence you can figure that they refused to give me my money back).

A support rep said things like ".co.uk domains are so cheap because of that: we won't update DNS for you. It's company policy, simple as that". Also "I will not put you through to my superior 'cause he will tell you the same things"

I tell you the aftersales service is PATHETIC.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!!!

We have been trying for over 3 weeks now to get One and One to send us a transfer form by email in order that we can transfer 3 domain names across to our account. They have this system whereby they send you an email and you then have to fax them a signed authority for transfer.

The problem here is that we have got to the point where we have to harass them daily to actually send us the transfer information. Three weeks down the road and we are still no closer to resolving the problem and no one at One and One seems to be able to sort out sending out a simple email in order to effect a transfer of a domain.

Very poor service, unprofessional and one to avoid.

VERY well said mate. Very well said... It would be of interest to people in here, that they haven't changed my DNS entries for my .com *YET* (see original review). About 3 weeks later and they haven't done s**t!

They really are a joke (well it would be a joke if the implications were not so serious). Their home page, along with numerous other pages describes how to transfer a domain TO oneandone, but transfering AWAY from oneandone is well hidden. I've not tried the transfering away myself yet, but trying to get them to even acknowledge an email about how to get out was a pain. I bet if I sent two emails, one asking for help transfering a domain to them, and another away from them, which would be answered first!!!

Transfering away is done through contract.oneandone.co.uk.

If you pay 1.99 per year for domain registration you can't expect all the features you would find with ones where you pay around £50 a year. You get what you pay for.

Why did you want to speak to a supervisor? You think by speaking to them you could bypass normal procedure? Procedures are in place for a reason. If they weren't in place there would be no organisation and customers who follow the rules would have their requests dealt with later than everyone else.
