CliveR's Review of Sony KDL-20S3020 LCD Television

Bad Points

On the sound front, bass extension is very limited with no deep bass but adequate upper bass, although this is expected for this type of TV. My only other criticism is the recommended selling price of £449, which is rather high for such a small set.

General Comments

The Sony KDL-20S3020 is beautiful TV set with good construction quality. It was very easy to set up and, connected to an outside aerial, found all Freeview channels without any hitch. I mainly use it for viewing DVDs played on an old budget Sanyo DVD player, with excellent results. Even my 1970s sitcom DVDs are displayed with added sparkle, as if they have been given a makeover. Colours are warm and picture clarity is great. The 20-inch screen is just a nice size for sitting a couple of metres away. The sound is impressive too for a set of this size. With the "Dynamic" setting selected (which enhances the sound), the sound delivery is beyond the size of the set, particularly in the mid-range which gives full-bodied voice dialogue. Finally, a good quality remote control is provided, which is easy to use. Together, the picture and sound of this set make absorbing viewing, and you forget that you are watching essentially a small-screen TV. If you can get this TV for around £300-350, it represents very good value for money.
