Good Points
Comfortable and reliable

Bad Points
Heavy on the diesel and in the snow the Bridgestone 16 inch wheels/tyres were hopeless even with 4 wheel drive. In fact I became stuck in a moderate fall of snow and nearly had to resort to chains.

General Comments
I find the first and to a certain extent the second gears are very very slow and the change of gear has to be time perfectly in order to obtain the a smooth drive. I can only get up to 20mph in 1st gear and that is pushing it and it seems to stop there and wont go any faster. Is it me or the vehicle"?

Only 20mph in 1st gear!!!
I assume you have another 4 gears in the box?
It's a 4x4 not an Bugati, your engine must be screaming it's guts out. This is in essence an off road car so probably has a low ratio first gear.
