Good Points

So Many Nights is an awesome combination of experimental rock and jazz. Each song is a different style of music - 'The Darkness' is what one could consider a hard core Mediterranean song with a twist of trumpet. 'Voodoo Cowboy' is like an old American Western, but again, with a little Australian twist. There is never a dull moment in this CD, and nearly all of the songs are danceable.

Bad Points

There are no specific bad points than I can think of - this CD is well done, but if you don't like jazz or experimental this is definitely not for you. There is certainly something very special about this band; two lead singers, one of whom plays the trumpet and in almost every song there is an instrumental that involves some jamming.

General Comments

The Cat Empire is a band from Melbourne, Australia, and their style is the epitome of experimental music. Felix Reibl, the lead singer, has a style of singing that would hit more with fans of Beck, the rhythmical speaking that hits notes on a scale. None of their songs have a very complicated melody, but most of them have interesting beats and lyrics. Harry Angus has a more raspy and throaty voice going on the slightly reedier side of things, but the difference between the two styles of singing between Felix and Harry makes the CD all that more interesting.
