Poor Customer Service
We saw a car on the website and travelled from Aberdeen to see the car at Edinburgh Seafield Motor Store. The car itself had a few small marks on it. The salesman pounced on us even although we told him we just wanted to look, but he hovered over us for the entire time and told us it had traction control when it didnt. After half an hour we decided to go and look at other garages accross the road, this didnt go down well and he walked away. We went back an hour later and decided we would purchase the car if we could test drive it and agree a small deal. The salessman immediately told us that they were selling the car at COST PRICE and made no money on it! He said they would have to agree a deal before we test drove the car and placed a non refundable deposit. As we had never driven that model before we were a bit anxious if we didnt like the test drive as we would loose our deposit. We asked if he could ask a manager about a deal, he told us the manager said he now made only £200 pound on this car and no deal was possible. When we asked even about a tank of fuel we were told there is the door if we don't like the price. We were gobsmaked that we were being thrown out of the garage for trying to negotiate a deal. If he had a pleasant manner we would have accepted his current price and purchsed the car. We asked him if we could see the manager and were told "he was too busy dealing with customers who wanted to buy cars". We asked for him to write his managers name and telephone number and he refused saying why should he! - he then walked away laughing he couldn't belive we were complaining because he told us to get out! We wrote a letter to Arnold Clark HQ and were informed that because we wanted to negotiate a deal when no deal was to be had, he was within his right to ask us to leave. Thinking it was just that garage we asked our local Arnold Clark to ship the car to Aberdeen for a deposit - Edinburgh refused to let the car go and never returned the Manager from Aberdeens phone calls. We have now bought a British registered car from Motorpoint even although Arnold Clark Edinburgh said that all Motorpoint cars were Imports.
