If you have one of these cards, keep your own records so that you know where your balance is, because even when all your transactions are shown, the balance they give is often wrong. If you act on this balance, thinking you have credit left and go over your limit, you will at first get "customer services" representatives calling three times a day, for up to five days after you have paid well over what was needed to get back within your limit. When you tell Egg that this is not acceptable and akin to harassment, they switch to the automated 4 times a day calls, where you get a recorded message instead. After this happens a couple of times, you realise that it is near impossible to get a new credit card because Egg has put black marks on your credit record. Finally, it is not unusually for Egg to add all charges and interest just before the monthly direct debit payment, sending you over your limit, with another £16 charge, and you have to go through the whole process all over again.
