napoletani99 has hit the nail on the head. All I can add is to confirm that the new (post 2005) A-class corners like a go-cart with the added benefit of it being almost impossible to lose traction due to the traction control which comes as standard, which for those who don't know that is a good thing :o) It's because the wheel-base to car-length ratio is nearly 1.
The easy vario option is great, I'm about 5 foot 10" and I can lie down (diagonally) in the back without taking any seats out - which is great for those who love the outdoors or those get turfed out by their partner from time to time :o)
If you can get the phone/bluetooth system installed by the manufacturer, the alternatives are a bit cheap in comparison to the finish of thecar.
Finally, you get a thirty year care package where they'll provide you with a replacement car any where in Europe if there is a breakdown which is not your fault and you have followed their instructions regarding services, which are every 15-16000 miles, contrary to what is stated on most websites reviewing the car.
