General Comments
So what is this machine then?
Its a small, smart and neat instant filter coffee machine that can also make teas and hot chocolate in less than 60 seconds!
The machine is smaller than the pictures do it justice it is actually slightly larger than our 4 slice toaster and doesn't look out of place at all.
The machine itself has the water reservoir on the rear which can be filled by removing it or just taking off the lid and topping it up, when full it will be enough to make approx 4 mugs of drink.
There is an on/off switch on the rear so it can remain plugged in. When you turn it on the lights will do a self check then it is ready for your chosen drink capsule.
The capsules contain either powder in the case of Hot Chocolate, Ground Coffee ,Tea leaves or liquid for the Milk/Creamers. When you place the capsule in the machine and close the lid it reads the bar code on it and then gets the required amount of water to the required temp. Once ready a light will come on and all you do is place your mug under the nozzle ready and press the start button, from start to finish it takes less than a minute. When done, either top up your mug by holding the start button (as clearly Braun use small cups so a mug will need to be topped up).
We have found that all of our mugs bar the tall Denby ones will fit under the nozzle, once done you just bin the capsule and carry on.
The nozzle itself is quite a small piece and can be lifted out and cleaned under a tap if necessary, I have made Hot Chocolate and then Coffee straight after without any cross contamination. You can find that after using the milk or crema that a little will spill onto the nozzle housing when you remove it, this can be easily wiped off with a cloth or kitchen towel.
I have tried most of the coffees now and am more than satisfied, the hot chocolate is fantastic and now I find myself drinking Earl Grey tea, by all accounts there are soups on their way out as well. You can also mix your own drinks too, Hot Chocolate with espresso and creme to make a mochachinno!
So in conclusion, this is a quick and easy peculator that also makes teas and other hot drinks, its not the cheapest but then again have a look at who makes the drinks for it, Suchard, Kenco, Carte Noir, Maxwell House, Twinings, that's some big names so expect more products to come out soon!
