Peaceful location but plenty of activities if you want them.
Bad Points
Poor response to emails via the website. Have returned from holiday but still not had an acknowlegement or reply to emails sent before we went!
General Comments
Was careful to choose a lodge near the car park so that we could escape the rush on the village roads. Were able to walk from the car park with our cases. A much better option than trying to drive. Having said that, Whinfell Forest Center Parc has improved - they now have numerous bays along the road so that if someone is unloading their car, you can still pass by easily. Our New Woodland Lodge was a vast improvement - exciting decor and comfortable furnishings. Although it was classed on the outer edge and 25 minutes walk to the village centre, it only took 10 minutes. The villas was exceptionally clean - no complaints there. Restaurants, although slightly dearer than normal, served adequate portions and good quality food. I would return to Whinfell Forest (have been to all the UK sites a few times) and probably chose a lodge in the same location. The only thing that was not satisfactory was that I sent emails regarding the non arrival of paperwork and Plan Your Break booklet and never even had an acknowledgement, never mind a satisfactory outcome!!
