Transit and boarding very well organised, its apparent that the experience of the owners P & O / Celebrity has been put to good use.
Organised trips were excellent, timely, and value for money, dont miss the helicopter flight over St Lucia, out of this world! as was the kyak and snorkal through the bat cave in St Vincent, and the turtle adventure in Barbados.
The staff are fantastic, some of the nicest people we have ever met. Tipping is included but we regulary tipped staff and the favour came back to us every time, no one ever forgot those tips and the service we received was fantastic.
We splashed out on a balcony cabin, and if we had had the choice of any cabin, we couldn't have picked a better one. (10123 if anyones interested!) Its the most forward of the balcony cabins on deck 10 and is just below the bridge, every morning we would get up and watch the captain and engineers bring the ship into port, and usually have a chat with them it was fascinating.
We ate in The Bistro and La Luna and prefared the latter. The Bistro food and surroundings are very very good, but it is a bit stuffy, (which is what we were trying to get away from) and the service was so attentive as to be almost intrusive. La Luna seem to have it just right great food, and just £4.75 per head service charge for 3 courses.
The entertainment is very 'Butlins at sea' the singers were medocre, and a bit amaturish. The acrobats were ok, but when you've seen them once, you've seen them.
I've been debating whether to put the dining rooms under 'bad points' the food is fairly varied, hot, and there is lots of choice, but it is a bit like a canteen, and wouldn't suit real foodies.
All in all I feel Ocean Village was really good value for money, with lots of islands visited in a short amount of time, and the good points far out way the poorer points.
I did hear people complaining about dress being too casual, and having to carry your own tray at dinner etc.but thats what it's all about, and had they had done their research properly there wouldn't be any surprises.
