Good Points

Prepaid envelopes for deposits - but, as my experience shows - depositing money with this bank is foolhardy.


Bad Points

Virtually impossible to withdraw/transfer money.
Account opening procedures not customer friendly.
Sainsbury telephone when you try to make a withdrawal but if you miss the call, that's it - nothing else happens and your money stays put.
All calls chasing your own money are at your own expense.
Sainsbury internet Saver account is a disgrace.


General Comments

When I tried to transfer funds, Sainsbury not only did not transfer my money, they did not even email me or 'phone.
For one transfer I attempted on 19.9.07., nothing happened, no call, no transfer. I 'phoned and was shunted around Sainsbury - everyone saying they knew nothing of my request.
The last straw - I was asked to phone the Banking Licence Help Desk on 5.10.07.(2+ weeks later) This was a Friday but the recorded message I received told me that the BLHD was only open Monday-Friday! and it was closed!
Even when I finally made contact with staff from Sainsbury's BLHD, they only wanted to ask me exactly the same security questions I had answered in attempting to make the transfer online, the same security questions I had answered online in originally setting up the payment mandate, identical to questions each Sainsbury operative asked me before telling me they knew nothing about my transfer request.
This is telephone not internet account + lousy customer service.
