Lost weight really quickly - 6.5 stone in 6 months.

Really neurotic around food for ages
I'm a psychology graduate, and the "counselling" was nowhere near sophisticated enough to deal with the food issues most of the clients have. CBT as a tool is excellent, but it is not utilised here.
The DVDs were awful - especially with the puppets!
I liked Lighterlife at the time because I could "avoid" eating. The last two months were a huge struggle and I was depressed every day as I "existed" with the packs (couldn't call it living). I started exhibiting starving and bingeing behaviour (something I never had before) with the packs - eating nothing all day and having 4 at a time just before I went to bed.
After I came off of LIghterlife, I found Beyond Chocolate, which promotes intuitive eating. It is so brilliant and is all aboout working with your body instead of fighting it. I put on some weight when I started it, but this was solely due to the fact I had just come of off Lighterlife and my metabolism was wrecked to hell (and I had to learn to legalise all the foods I had restricted). I am so happy now, eat a varied diet with fruit, veg, chocolate and absolutely anything I fancy! I eat in moderation and the excess weight is melting away. (This is from someone who spent years and years overeating until feeling sick, eating in secret etc etc)
If I can help one person by letting them know that there are other ways apart from Lighterlife and Gastric Band surgery etc (which I enquired about, at the age of 21, as I was so unhappy with my body) then writing this review will have been worth it.
Please, please, please look up Beyond Chocolate/intuitive eating/Geneen Roth etc.
The only reason I gave Lighterlife as high a score as I did (a 1) is because it does help you lose weight. But at what price?
