Poor (and rude) after sales service

General Comments

I have had an Ericsson R600 for less than a year.

My main disappointment is the quality of the finish on the phone. In less than a year most of the characters on the keyboard have rubbed away and are unreadable and the paint finish on the front housing and around the lens is pealing off. The rear housing would appear to be the only part of the exterior which is made of quality material and has remained in showroom condition (and also demonstrates that the handset has not been subject to unreasonable wear and tear).

I visited my local Sony Ericsson Service Centre (now there's a joke) and after quoting me AU$25 for the parts (front cover lens and keypad)they wanted to slug me AU$45 to fit them (a 2 minute job for a trained monkey). They refused to let me buy the parts without fitting or negotiate a reduced "service" fee. Same story at the other two centres in my city all claiming that it was Ericsson policy and there was nothing that they could do about it.

ERICSSON WHAT ARE YOU DOING??????? It is bad enough that your accessories are more expensive than your competition but you are insulting the intelligence of your customers with your ridiculous policy. The "good value" product is looking more and more like a lemon.
