snow!
Numerous - badly organised, expensive, chaotic
After explaining that I had been skiing every year for a number of years and after discussion with your staff, my Husband bought a course of lessons as a Christmas present for me. He was advised that the progression course would be the right level and duly paid the £150.
Firstly, on attempting to trade the course for a couple of private lessons which I thought would be of more benefit to me, I was told that this could not be done. So after much deliberation, I finally agreed to sign on the 3 lesson course.
The first session was last Saturday and whilst listening to the instructor learned that we would be starting out on the nursery slopes! Not only that but I was then in a group of three children, aged between 7 and probably 14 who had only just learned to ski. Both myself and the parents of the 7 year old (who had finished his previous course on the main slope) voiced our concern and it was agreed that we would be going onto the main slope. By the time this had been decided, 15 minutes of the lesson time had passed.
Once on the slopes I explained to the instructor that I had been skiing for over 10 years and wanted to learn better technique and a more professional skiing style. It was obvious from the start that this was not going to happen as the two children were at a very basic level and the instructor had to spend his time with them. Whilst the instructor took the others half way on the slope, I was told to ski from the top and was then left on my own for a while (whilst the instructor was 'watching me from his position lower on the slope'. He did ask one of his colleagues to ski with me and give me some pointers but this was only for around 5 minutes as he had to then take his own class. I then spent some time skiing on my own.
Eventually, the youngest of the group was competent enough to tackle the slope from the top and so I was asked to take him with me. Meanwhile, the instructor (understandably I suppose) spent much of his time with the other two which meant I ended up 'babysitting' the youngest member of the group, more or less giving him lessons myself.
In the whole of the lesson, I would guess that I spent a total of 30 minutes with an instructor and the knowledge I gained could have been passed to me by anyone - even a member of the public.
